Wyze and Blink both sell cameras for the price of a nice dinner, and both are genuinely good for the money. But they solve the problem differently, and the difference comes down to two things: how you power the camera and how you store the footage without paying monthly. Get those two right and either brand is a bargain.

The short version

Buy Wyzeif you have an outlet nearby and want free local recording — it records to a microSD card with no subscription, in sharp 2.5K, for about $35. Buy Blinkif you need a truly wire-free camera for a spot with no power, and you’re happy either to pay Blink’s small plan or to add a Sync Module 2 for local storage.

Storage: where Wyze pulls ahead

This is the deciding factor for most people. The Wyze Cam v4 takes a microSD card and records to it — continuously or on events — for free. Blink’s newer kits ship with a “Sync Module Core” that, crucially, cannot store clips locally at all; without a subscription or a separate Sync Module 2 plus a USB drive, a Blink camera saves nothing. Power: where Blink pulls ahead

The Wyze Cam v4 is not a battery camera — it needs USB power, so it lives near an outlet or under an eave with a cable run. Blink is the opposite: two years on a set of AA batteries, mount it anywhere, no wires. If your target spot has no power and you don’t want to run a solar panel, Blink wins on placement alone.

Which should you buy?

For a powered location and the lowest possible running cost, Wyze is the clearer pick — free storage, better resolution, and it plays with Google as well as Alexa. For a wireless spot with no outlet, Blink’s battery life makes it the practical choice, as long as you budget for storage. Neither is a wrong answer at these prices; they’re just answers to different questions.
