How we test

The honest version: we don't run a lab, and we won't pretend to. Here is exactly what our recommendations are built on, and what we refuse to claim.

Questions about our method

Do you physically test the products you recommend?

No. We do not run a hands-on test lab and we don't own most of these units, so we never claim to have tested them. Our recommendations are built on published specifications, manufacturer documentation, retailer listings and independent authorities — all cited — plus running-cost math we show in full.

Then why should I trust your picks?

Because everything is checkable. We source every factual claim, link to the listing each spec was read from with the date, and never print a price from memory. You can follow our reasoning and the citations and disagree with us — which is more than a site claiming a lab it can't prove will ever let you do.

Does the commission you earn affect your rankings?

No. The reasoning is identical whether a link earns us anything or not, and where a cheaper product is the better buy we recommend it even when a pricier link would pay more. We disclose the affiliate relationship on every money page.

Why do some specs say 'Not published'?

Because the manufacturer didn't clearly state that figure, and we won't guess. On a site built around the 'does this cost a monthly fee?' question, a brand being vague about storage or subscriptions is itself worth knowing — so we surface the gap rather than paper over it.
