Blink Outdoor 4 Review

Cheap, wire-free and Amazon-native, with a genuinely long battery life. The catch is storage: the bundled Sync Module Core won't save clips on its own, so budget for either a subscription or a Sync Module 2 before you call it a no-fee camera.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Blink Outdoor 4 work without a subscription?

Only if you add hardware. The Sync Module Core that ships with many kits cannot store clips on its own — without a Blink subscription, a Blink camera saves nothing. To record locally with no fee, you add a Sync Module 2 (about the price of one camera) and a USB drive. So the true no-fee setup costs more than the sticker suggests.

How long does the Blink Outdoor 4 battery last?

Blink rates the Outdoor 4 for up to around two years on two AA lithium cells, depending on how much it records. That's the camera's biggest strength: it's genuinely wire-free and you rarely think about power.

Does the Blink Outdoor 4 work with Google Home or Apple Home?

No. Blink is an Amazon brand and is effectively Alexa-only. If you want a wire-free camera that also works with Google Home, look at a Reolink or eufy; neither Blink nor most of these budget cameras support Apple Home.

Is 1080p enough for the Blink Outdoor 4?

For general awareness of who's at the door or in the yard, 1080p is workable. But it trails the 2K and 4K field, so it looks soft when you zoom in to read a face or a plate at a distance. If detail matters, a 2K/4K camera is a better buy.
